Igus is a worldwide manufacturer and distributor of plastic plain and spherical bearings, linear guides, cable carriers and continuous-flex cables. Recently it was decided to refurbish their UK operation of offices and factory space based in Northampton.
S&D Contracts from Milton Keynes were appointed for the electrical installation, who when faced with the problem of supplying a range of bespoke cable tray turned to Tamlex of Telford. A site visit revealed, for instance a need on the first floor for bespoke cable tray 350 mm wide x 75 mm deep with 255 mm round apertures punched in various positons for luminaires to be fitted.
Additionally it was necessary to integrate with previous systems, produce special bends, navigate round existing columns and produce a unique design with no visible hangers or joins.
Tamlex as a manufacturer for over 50 years with the latest design and machinery are one of the few companies left that can offer this complete local service. “On anything bespoke you always encounter problems”, said Stuart Collyer, owner of S&D Contracts, “but by dealing directly with Tamlex we were able to overcome all issues which made what could have been very difficult, very easy”.
